Top 5 Cereals That Were Awesome As A Kid and Still Equally Awesome As An Adult

#1 Cinnamon Toast Crunch - As a child, this cereal was my religion. I had 3 bowls a day. One for breakfast, one for lunch, one for dinner. Anybody that was a "90s kid" might recall eating these cinnamon and sugar dusted squares while watching some good 90s Nickelodeon cartoons like Rocko's Modern Life, or Hey Arnold. Funny thing is, at the age of 22 I'm able to do the exact same thing I did 10 years ago thanks to Teen Nick bringing 90s Nickelodeon back. The only difference is now I inhale these cinnamon swirls at 2 o'clock in the morning.

#2 Waffle Crisp - These maple syrup flavored waffle shaped corn bits were first introduced in 1996. I was 7.  I remember watching the commercial and seeing "Old Grannies" making the cereal themselves. I guess the commercial wanted kids to believe "Hey grandma's make it so it has to be good." Another thing about this cereal that sticks out in my mind was that it shredded the roof of your mouth like Captain Crunch but the taste of the maple syrup was so addicting that it overshadowed that odd feeling. I stopped eating it for a couple of years and the one day I wanted to reminisce on the taste I was under the impression it had been discontinued. I went to every grocery store to find it and I couldn't. Until my lucky day came when I stepped into a Target and saw it for $3 on the shelf. It's still out there folks. If you remember it. You can find it.

#3 Honey Bunches of Oats - Ok this one is a personal favorite and although YOU may have not enjoyed it as a kid, you've heard of this cereal by now. You know those commercials where the "Post" workers walk up to strangers on the street offering them a free bowl of flakes and oat clusters baked with a hint of honey? Yeah. I wish I was one of those strangers. Of course in 2011, Honey Bunches has branched out to Raisin, Vanilla and Peach flavors since the original "Honey Roasted." But while your standing in the aisle trying to decide which one is better, remember, the Original is always #1.

#4 Cocoa Puffs - "I'm KOO KOO for COCOA PUFFS!" I had to say it. Any kid that saw the commercial for this cereal back in the day probably thought the psychotic bird that demanded cocoa puffs from other children was funny. These days, if you're an adult, you'll be the first person to make a crack about how the bird was most likely snorting cocoa dust off to the side and stalked adolescents to get his hand on a bowl of his next cocoa fix. Either way. You enjoyed the milk in the bowl turning to chocolate back then and you enjoy it now.

#5 Fruit Loops - "Follow Your Nose, Where Ever It Goes!" Ok by now you guys probably think I'm just trying to remember the catchy slogans each cereal had, but the truth is I just remembered this cereal now and decided to include it. I haven't had a bowl of brightly artificial lemon, grape, orange and god knows what other flavored rings in a long time, but fruit loops are hands down AWESOME. In fact Fruit Loops has faded so much for me that I would be interested in doing a survey with young kids today to see how many still eat them.
